Frequency Displays and Transfer Button #

STBY/CRS FREQUENCY DISPLAY – The standby communication frequency is normally displayed in this window. This frequency is changed by rotating the frequency selector knob and is activated by pushing the transfer button. The CRS is displayed when a navigation radio is remotely tuned. The transfer button when pushed, exchanges the active and standby frequencies, and tunes the new active frequency.

ACTIVE FREQUENCY DISPLAY – The active or selected radio frequency is displayed on this window. The selected radio is identified by the illuminated green color radio selection button. A communication radio is normally displayed in this window; however, a navigation radio and course can be remotely tuned.

Transfer Button

TRANSFER BUTTON – The transfer button when pushed, exchanges the active and standby frequencies, and tunes the new active frequency.

Radio Selection Buttons #

When a radio selection button is pushed, the ACTIVE window displays the tuned frequency and the STBY/CRS window displays the standby frequency. The selected radio button displays a green color light that identifies the selected radio.

The frequency selector knob allows for dialing in the desired frequency or course in the STBY/CRS window.

Navigation and Standby Navigation Button #

When the STBY NAV button is selected it enables remotely tuning the respected navaid and desired course. Each RMP tunes it’s respective navaid. Tuning and ILS on either RMP tunes both ILS receivers if both RMPs have their NAV button pressed.

REMOTE TUNING A RADIO – To remotely tune a radio frequency and course:

  1. Select NAV using the NAV button.
  2. Dial in the desired radio frequency using the frequency selector knob.
  3. Then push the transfer button to transfer the standby frequency to the active window and display the selected course in the STBY/CRS window.
  4. Select the desired course by rotating the frequency selector knob.

When the STBY NAV button is selected it enables remotely tuning the respected navaid and desired course. Each RMP tunes it’s respective navaid. Tuning and ILS on either RMP tunes both ILS receivers if both RMPs have their NAV button pressed.

REMOTE TUNING A RADIO – To remotely tune a radio frequency and course:

  1. Select NAV using the NAV button.
  2. Dial in the desired radio frequency using the frequency selector knob.
  3. Then push the transfer button to transfer the standby frequency to the active window and display the selected course in the STBY/CRS window.
  4. Select the desired course by rotating the frequency selector knob.

When a navaid is remotely tuned, the letter “R” is displayed next the navaid identifier on the Navigation Display. When an ILS has been remotely tuned the PFDs do not display DME.

NOTE When a radio is remotely tuned, automatic radio tuning is deactivated and the RAD/NAV page on both MCDUs are deactivated.

On/Off Switch #

The On/Off switch controls the power supply to the RMP. When a Radio Management Panel (RMP) has failed or is turned off, RMP 3 passes through the failed/off panel and is connected directly to the selected transceiver.
