ECAM Control Panel is part of pedestal panel.

Description #
The ECAM System presents airplane engine and system data on two identical CRT displays located on the center instrument panel below the glareshield. The upper screen is the Engine/Warning Display (E/WD) and the lower screen is the System Display (SD).
ENGINE WARNING DISPLAY – The E/WD provides:
- Primary engine instruments information and fuel quantity indication
- Flap/slat position information
- Warning and caution information, and memo messages concerning airplane system status
ECAM CLASSIFICATIONS – ECAM Warnings and Cautions are divided into three classifications:
- Level 3: Immediate action required – Red ECAM, Master Warning light, and a Continuous Repetitive Chime (CRC)
- Level 2: Crew awareness – Amber ECAM, Master Caution light, and single chime
- Level 1: Crew monitoring – Amber ECAM
TO Configuration Button #
The TAKEOFF CONFIGURATION button when pushed, simulates takeoff power application to trigger a warning if the airplane is not properly configured for takeoff. If the airplane is properly configured, the T.O. CONFIG NORMAL message in the takeoff memo displays green.
TAKEOFF CONFIGURATION CHECK – When the TAKEOFF CONFIGURATION button is pushed, or takeoff power is applied, the following warnings are generated to signify the associated item is not configured properly for takeoff:
- CONFIG SLATS (FLAPS) NOT IN T.O. RANGE
- CONFIG PITCH NOT IN T.O. RANGE
- CONFIG SPD BRK NOT RETRACTED
- CONFIG RUD TRIM NOT IN T.O. RANGE
- CONFIG L(R) SIDESTICK FAULT
- BRAKES HOT
- DOORS (tested only if engines running)
- CONFIG PARK BRAKE ON
- ENG FLEX TEMP NOT SET
Emergency Cancel Button #
The EMER CANC button when pushed:
- Present aural warning is cancelled
- The MASTER WARN light switches extinguish
- The message displayed on the ECAM is not affected
- Present caution (single chime, MASTER CAUT lights, ECAM message) is cancelled for remainder of flight
- The STATUS page is automatically displayed
- The CANCELLED CAUTION message and the title of the inhibited failure appear on the status page. The cancelled caution inhibition is suppressed after AC power application until first engine start, but can be manually recalled by pushing RCL button for more than 3 sec
Only spurious MASTER cautions should be cancelled.
System Page Buttons #
The SD has 12 different system pages that can be displayed automatically when signaled by the flight phase (provided no other system page is manually selected using the ECAM control panel), or by a system failure or automatic advisory. Permanent data is displayed at the bottom of the SD, including TAT, SAT, UTC, load factor or metric altitude, and airplane gross weight.
The SD also displays a STATUS page that provides an operational summary of the airplane’s system status. The STATUS page contains limitations (e.g., speed and flight level), approach procedures, landing corrections, and general information. It also lists cancelled cautions, inoperative systems, and maintenance messages.
SYSTEM PAGE BUTTONS – The System Page buttons when pushed display the related system page on the lower ECAM display.
The associated system button illuminates after manual selection or when an advisory is detected. If pushed a second time while illuminated, the system page for the present phase of flight or current warning appears.
All Button #
The ALL button when pushed and held, displays all system pages in succession at 1 second intervals.
If the ECAM control panel fails, push and hold the ALL button until the desired system page appears, and then release the button to maintain the display.
If only one ECAM screen is available, repeatedly pressing the ALL button cycles to the desired page.
Clear Button #
The CLR buttons illuminate when an ECAM warning, caution, or status message is displayed. When an illuminated CLR button is pushed, the ECAM display changes and clears the ECAM warning, caution, or status from the SD.
Status Button #
The STS button illuminates when the ECAM STATUS page is displayed. When pushed, the STATUS page is displayed on the ECAM lower display. When pushed with no present status messages NORMAL appears for 5 seconds. The STATUS page may be cleared by pushing the STS button a second time, or by pushing the CLR button.
When only one ECAM display is available; push and hold the STATUS button to display the STATUS page. To display the next STATUS page, release the STS button and push it again before 2 seconds have elapsed. The new page will then appear after a short delay.
Recall Button #
The RCL button when pushed:
- Recalls warning and caution messages that have been suppressed with the CLR button or automatic flight phase inhibition
- NORMAL appears for 5 seconds with no current warnings or cautions
- For more than 3 seconds, caution messages suppressed by the EMER CANC button are recalled
Display Control Knobs #
ECAM Control Knobs select respective display ON/OFF and controls brightness. (Brightness is also automatically adjusted with changing light conditions.) When the upper ECAM display is selected OFF, the E/WD automatically transfers to the lower ECAM display.
